| Report: Region's home prices expected to rise in 2010 |

Northern Colorado home price declines in October were slower than in September and projected to appreciate within 12 months, according to the latest home price index from First American CoreLogic.
The real estate data firm reported that October home prices across the nation declined by 7.8 percent compared to last year, which is down from September's year-over-year decline of 9.5 percent. Without distressed sales, home prices declined by 5.8 percent.
Northern Colorado saw a similar pattern. In the Fort Collins-Loveland area, October home prices were down 3.62 percent compared to October 2008. In September, the year-over-year decline was 4.21 percent. In Greeley, home prices declined .86 percent in October compared to a 2.48 percent decline in September.
First Amercian CoreLogic is projecting home prices will appreciate within the next 12 months, with a bottoming in March. For Fort Collins-Loveland, the firm anticipates a 2.7 percent appreciation by October 2010. Greeley's appreciation is projected at .88 percent.
